Wired Medium vs Wireless Medium

Communication Systems can be mainly of two types Wired or Wireless and the medium they use for communication is Guided or Unguided.

In Wired Communication, medium is a physical path such as Co-axial Cables, Twisted Pair Cables and Optical Fiber Links etc. that guide the signal from one point to another to propagate. Such medium is called Guided Medium.

At the same time, such wireless communication which does not require any physical medium but propagates here only through signal space. Since this signals do not need any guidance to propagate, this type of medium is called Unguided Medium in wireless communication.
